Designing Better Strategies and Systems Together & Accessibly

Do you ever wish you had a second executive director to call? Or maybe you’re so new to the space that you need one to help you launch-
That’s where we can help. CoDesign Works provides consulting services to government, nonprofit, and foundations to ensure that their strategies and solutions are designed with communities. We’re also nationally recognized experts in accessibility and disability inclusion. (Nerd out with some articles from our founder’s SSRN page.) As a disabled and woman-owned business, we bring a deep appreciation for connection and adaptability. With a background in education policy, we’re just as comfortable codesigning with teens as we are crafting a direction for legislative advocacy.
The following are examples of our consulting services:
Accessibility & Disability Inclusion
We’ve been working in the accessibility space since the 1990s (gulp) when we formed our first mentoring program for disabled girls. We’ve served on the advisory boards and boards of foundations and nonprofits focused on disability, been on the American Bar Association’s Commission on Disability Rights, taught disability rights law, presented internationally, led disability rights legal aid organizations, and done so many presentations about disability identity, accessibility, and culture change that we’d wear out a push button for your automatic door.
Strategic Planning & Program, Policy, and Resource Development
Our approach to planning is informed by codesign. Your organization doesn’t change once every 3-5 years, so let’s think about your strategy adaptively. We’ve made everything from toolkits to podcasts, bill drafts to multi-method studies.
Change Management & Organizational Development
Including conflict resolution training, ombuds services (or program development), capacity building, executive leadership coaching, facilitation, and learning and training development. We’re also a frequent keynote invitee for topics such as accessibility, disability advocacy, access to justice, and nonprofit governance.
Fractional or Interim Executive Director
If your organization is in transition, we can act as a fractional executive director. We love working with nonprofits that are almost ready to hire their first full-time staff member or have had an unexpected change in leadership. Those are important reset times.
